Hellena Post - Creatrix

I've tried on so many uniforms and badges that now I'm just me - mother of 8 children and all that entails, flowmad, and human animal parent. Writer of this living book of a blog, philosopher, and creatrix of hand dyed and spun crocheted wearable art. I gave up polite conversation years ago, and now I dive into the big one's.....birth, sex, great wellness, life, passion, death and rebirth.

Home

My dream for the world is simple. Along with the right to clean water, clean food, and a purposeful occupation that inspires a person to follow their destiny, I believe it should be a human right to have a home.

A home, a sanctuary, a private place where we can choose who enters the sanctum, where we can let down our guard, and just be.

A home where we belong to the land more than the land belongs to us.  Where our attraction to it is more important than pieces of paper.

A home where our choices and lifestyle are respected.  Where we feel sovereign and autonomous and free.

A home, where children are free to roam safely, exploring their surroundings and developing their unique relationship with the land and it's inhabitants.

A home where we don’t have to mortgage our souls and our lives, and compromise our existence to be.

A home that reflects the individuality and character of the home dweller.  With objects of inspiration and beauty all around.

A home in co-existence with the animals and plants that surround it.

A home that we never have to leave unless we want to.

A home where both parents or any combination of care givers can choose to stay at home to bring up their children, without having to sacrifice one of them to the bondage of banks.

Join with me if you feel so inclined
to wish a home like this
for us all

  3. I've been reading through your blog, and I'm so happy to have found it.

I most wholeheartedly agree with your wish. Compared to many, our family has managed to achieve many of these goals, at least to some degree. But there's so much further to go!

Thank you so much for your writing. It's a gift to the rest of us.

  5. Oh goody, if you remember any of them, I'd love to explore more. As it is, I'll have to keep coming back here for my own inspiration.
I do understand the collecting of images for all sorts of good reasons. Oh yes. I do.

Thank you for letting me know that it was hard to see where to follow me on my blog. I added a title on the sidebar above where the RSS links are. Is that what you mean?

  6. You pay me a huge compliment Madcap...thanks:) And Ariad, I reckon there's a cultural and genetic memory within all of us for homes that are closer to the earth. And thicklygrownwithweeds, I couldn't copy a lot of the pictures I really wanted to...you could check out

  7. Ahhh, thanks for the links!!! I will check it out!
Weird about the follow bar, it is active for me and I will check with others to see if it works for them.
    Thanks again.

  9. OMG! This... It's one of my deepest dreams, I'd love to be able to do this here in my tropical island, but it's just not doable. It's way too expensive to buy a piece of land and build a home. Do you know of any country on which something like this is doable? We could get together and help each other to achieve this. Of course with all the complications of immigration it would be pretty much impossible :S. Have an awesome week!

  10. I love this, but how to make it a reality... I would so love a home for me and my family that is our own and that reflects who we are etc. But "A home where both parents or any combination of care givers can choose to stay at home to bring up their children, without having to sacrifice one of them to the bondage of banks." - is this possible? If so, how? Would love your ideas on this. I've seen pictures of your beautiful home on this blog, which I am delighted to have stumbled across. How did you come to be there?

Thank you for this lovely post,

    Curious Woman xx

    1. Well. I live in a country that honours families and gives them an amount of money every fortnight to help support them. And we trade, and Currawong busks, and I sell the odd thing that I've made. Also things just turn up, and people give us stuff they don't want anymore, and we want very little compared to the average Australian.

We've lived with my mother and tried to make the extended family work, and we've lived on communities where folk share resources and bills, and there's always a loop hole, or a gap, or a trade, or a generous person if you need it. And now in Northern NSW there are legitimate incredibly cheap options for owning your home, and then there's things like earthships that we could make with few dollars and community help and scavenging......

There are always ways if you truly want to do anything.

All of us spending time together as a family is a really important thing to us. And the freedom for us all to be who we really are. So we just keep finding a way.....
